CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Sheriff's Office welcomed a new police officer last week and is offering an entrance exam for correction officers in June.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest R. Cutting Jr. congratulated the newest member of the Patrol Division, Deputy Bruce Winter, upon his graduation on Thursday from the Mohawk Valley Police Academy in Utica.

Chenango County is seeking correction officer applications for the civil service exam scheduled for June 25.

Several vacancies will be filled by appointment of candidates passing this examination.

The 2022 starting rate for full-time positions is $21.15 per hour. The pay rate for part-time positions is less.

To qualify candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have no criminal conviction that would bar them from examination. They must also be at least age 21 and possess a valid NYS Driver’s License.
