NORWICH – Richard Snyder, Publisher of the Evening Sun is welcoming Morgan Golliver to the newsroom to take over the role of sports editor in the coming months.
As student athletes return to the field following a very disruptive two years from the pandemic, the Evening Sun welcomes the return of full regular sports coverage with Morgan at the helm.
Since the pandemic began our sports team has included the work of Managing Editor Tyler Murphy, former Sports Editor Patrick Newell and Sports Writer Robert Jeffery. Morgan will be working closely with our team and reaching out to coaches in the coming weeks.
The Evening Sun understands local sports are one of the most important things a local community newspaper can cover. We hope to return to daily regular coverage on most local sports by the end of the spring season.

From the Sports Editor:
Hi,
My name is Morgan Golliver and I am excited to be your hometown sports editor.
I grew up in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School in 2015. I left the area to attend college at Utica University, where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Communcation and Media with a concentration in Sports Journalism.
I have experience in sports broadcasting, sports writing, and sports statistics, that led me to this amazing opportunity to write for my hometown newspaper.
I cheered for Norwich High School all four years for football and basketball. I have a two year old son named Jacob, named after my favorite Mets' pitcher, Jacob deGrom.
I am a avid sports fanatic. My favorite sport is baseball – GO METS! – but I also follow football (Giants), basketball (Syracuse), and hockey (Rangers). I also love going to Binghamton Rumble Ponies games.
Credit to my dad Chris and my uncle Bob for helping me find my passion in sports. Also to my amazing family on supporting me in all that I do.
Lastly, I am very excited to cover Chenango County's amazing local sports teams and can't wait to make my community proud.
Feel free to reach out to me about all things sports- mgolliver@evesun.com or sports@evesun.com. (607)337-3078. Leave a voicemail with any relevant information and we will hear it. Thank you!
