HERKIMER- On Saturday, the Greene girls' softball team competed in the Mudville Tournament where they won both games. 8-0 against Wayne and a close 5-4 victory over Nichols.
In game one, Olivia Kennedy picked up the win with only allowing one hit, a walk, and struck out 10 batters. She also went 2-for-4 with a 2-run home run.
Olivia's catcher McKenzie Scott went 3-for-4 with a double and scored two runs. Payton Yahner had a perfect 4-for-4 game at the plate with a double, triple, and scored two runs while Kylie Faris had two RBI and scored a run.

In game two, Payton Yahner started on the mound, allowing four hits, a walk, and struck out two batters in two innings pitched. Olivia Kennedy picked up her second win of the afternoon in relief this time. She allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out nine batters.
All Nichols runs were unearned; three in the first and one in the fifth.
For Greene, Payton Yahner went 2-for-3 with a 2-run double in the third while Kenzie Button had an RBI single in the second. Other than that, Nichols' defense was top notch.
“Nichols had a solid defense that kept us off the bases,” Greene softball coach Judi Mansheffer said. “We scored one in the second, four in the third, and held on for the 5-4 win.
Next: Greene will take on Harpursville this evening (Monday) before traveling to Delaware Academy on Tuesday afternoon.
