WAWARSING– On Sunday, the Galena Growlers Composite NICA NY mountain bike team traveled to Wawarsing, NY’s Lippman Park for its second Cross Country mountain bike race of the 2022 Spring season, called the Timber Ridge XC race.
Below are the results from the thirteen riders, consisting of three middle schoolers and 10 high schoolers. The High school riders rode on a 4-mile per lap race course while the middle school riders had an approximately 3.5 mile course. Both courses took full advantage of the trails of Lippman Park.
For race #2, the Growlers High School team used the Combination of BBGG for it’s scoring, and for the second week in a row, the team finished in 8th place (1888 points, up 165 points from the 1723 points scored in Race 1) overall out of New York’s 23 registered NICA teams.
The Growlers remain in 8th place overall on the season now with a combined 3611 points in Race 1 and 2.
The next race will take place on May 15. The location is still up in the air if it will be in Norwich or Oneonta.
“If you see the Growlers out on the local trails in / around the Chenango County area, give these hard working kids a honk or a shout,”said Galena Growlers head coach Rob Baker.

The Preferred Mutual racer of the day: Emma Brooks, in her first ever NICA race in the JV Girls race.
The R.E. Brooks Construction racer of the day: Andrew Lawrence who flatted on lap 1 of his two-lap race, swapped bikes and didn’t DNF.
The Prime General Contracting racer of the day: Drew Brooks on his 2nd place podium finish in the JV boys race.
The RSD Motorsports racer of the day: Madison Lawrence for her 12th place JV Girls finish with a spectacular crash with another rider right at the finish.
The Action Cyclery LLC race of the day: Damien Murphy for his 12th place finish in the boy’s Freshman race on his new bike.
The Skylla Engineering racer of the day: Braedon Baker for his 6th place finish in the 3-lap Freshman Boys race.
