CHENANGO COUNTY– The Greene Trojans softball team played in two games over the weekend, where they finished the regular season undefeated.
On Friday, Greene shut out Sidney 8-0 behind Olivia Kennedy’s one-hitter and 14 strikeouts.
Behind Kennedy, Rhea Malmquist went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a total of three RBIs including a RBI double in the fifth inning. Payton Yahner, DJ Lora, and Natalie Scofield each drove in a run.

Greene finished the weekend off on Saturday with a big 15-0 win over Delhi.
Payton Yahner threw a one-hit game and struck out 13 batters in the win. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, scored three runs, and had one RBI.
Behind Payton, Olivia Kennedy went 3-for-3 with a lead-off home run in the first, a double, and two RBIs on the day.
Abbey Yahner also hit a home run in the second inning and finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs while Kylie Ferris went a perfect 4-for-4 as well with two RBIs and scored three runs.
Coach Judi Mansheffer applauded the offense after the successful weekend.
“The team is getting offensive contributions out of all nine spots in the batting order. It’s been fun to see which player is going to step up next and make a contribution,” Mansheffer said. “This isn’t just a team of softball players. They are a close knit family that always has each other's back.”
Mansheffer also shared the regular season stats for her top two pitchers.
“Olivia (Kennedy) and Payton (Yahner) have teamed up for a combined 195 strike outs , 16 hits, 21 walks, 8 runs with only two being earned runs.”
Greene is set to host Unatego in the first round of the MAC playoffs this afternoon (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m.
