GREENE– It only took five innings for the Greene Trojans to defeat the Unatego Spartans 16-0 in the first game of the MAC playoffs.
Senior Olivia Kennedy continued to dominate on the mound. She pitched a complete game where she allowed just one hit, which was a bunt single in the fourth inning where the runner beat the throw to first. She allowed no walks and struck out 13 batters.
At the plate, Kennedy went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in the second at-bat in the first and a two-run double in the fourth inning.
Kylie Ferris beat out the throw to first twice in her plate appearance with two infield singles and a single to left field in the fourth inning.
Faith Tierno also contributed with two singles while teammate Abbey Yahner had an RBI double and sister Payton had three RBIs off two singles in the first.
After the shutout victory against Unatego, Greene is back in action taking on Deposit-Hancock Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
