ONEONTA– On Monday, the Norwich track and field team had a dual meet against Oneonta, where Oneonta won for the girls and Norwich earned the STAC East Division with their victory for the boys.
Oneonta outscored Norwich girls 103-22. Norwich earned one first place finish from Jolei Powell in the triple jump (29’½). Powell also finished third in the long jump (12’9 ¾).
Briley Beckwith achieved two second place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles (21.9 seconds) and in the 400 meter relay with a time of 1:25.5.
Norwich’s Annie Boland earned third place in both the 1500 meter run (6:10.6) and in the 800 meter relay with a time of 3:02.
Devin Flanagan placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.9 seconds, just six seconds later than Oneonta’s leader Maddie Seguin (13.3 seconds).
In the shot put event, Lara Tefft came in second place (26’11 ¾) while Eva Blenis and Meghan Funk both placed in discus. Blenis earned second (67’9) while Funk took third (64’7 ½).
It came down to the final 4x400 relay for the Norwich boys to come away with the 75-66 win over the Yellowjackets.
Norwich earned two first place finishes in the 3200 meter run (9:26.7) and in the 400 meter relay (46.3 seconds) as an overall team.
The Tornado also won the 1600 meter run by just three seconds, 3:36 to Oneonta’s 3:36.3.
In the 100 meter dash, Norwich scored nine points with three finishers. Holden Ryan came in first with a time of 11.8 seconds while Lucas Craddock took second (12.1) and Spencer Root in third with 12.3 seconds.
Gage Titsworth earned two third place finishes in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19 seconds and in the 400 meter hurdles with 1:06.1, tying with Gabe Decker who placed second.
In the 3200 meter run, Makaio Sutton won first place with a time of 10:39.3 and took second in the 1600 meter run (4:50.1).
Norwich’s Richard Fuller was triumphant in both the 200 meter dash (23.8 seconds) and in the 400 meter dash (53.1 seconds). Teammate Holden Ryan tied with Fuller in the 200 meter dash.
In the 800 meter run, Norwich had two finishers. Zander Sutton in second place with a time of 2:12.8 while Nolan Reid finished third (2:14.6).
Alek Smietana earned third place in the shot put event (36’4) as PJ Bookhamer placed third in discus (95’ 9 ½).
Lucas Craddock was dominant in the high jump, the long jump, and in the triple jump. He earned first place in the long jump (20’7) as well as in the triple jump (40’10 ¼). Craddock placed second in the high jump (5’10) with Holden Ryan behind him in third (5’2).
Anthony Ragonese finished in second place in the long jump (19’10 ¼) and third in the triple jump (39’1).
Norwich travels to Johnson City this afternoon to compete in the Three Bald Guys Pentathlon, starting at 4 p.m.
