NORWICH– The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted the Windsor Black Knights, where they lost 18-2 in five innings.
Freshman pitcher Caitlin Wetterhahn struck out five batters in the loss.
The Norwich defense had a scoreless third inning, but could not keep Windsor off the board. Windsor scored a majority of its runs in the second inning (nine).
Hailey Beckwith had the lone hit in the second for Norwich, but her offense could not bring her home from third base. Norwich scored its two runs off Windsor’s passed balls.
This was not Norwich’s final game of the season. They are finishing up a tied game in the seventh inning with Bainbridge-Guilford before playing another game. Game time is this afternoon (Friday) at 4:30 p.m.
