EAST SYRACUSE – On Saturday, the Greene Trojans shutout the Sandy Creek Comets 6-0 to become Class C regional champions for the second time in program history (‘12 and ‘22). According to Section 4 softball, Greene is 3-1 in the state playoffs with one championship appearance in the 5-2 loss to Greenwich.
It was a pitcher’s duel for the first three innings until Greene got on the board in the fourth. McKenzie Scott reached on an error and Payton Yahner doubled before Kylie Ferris drove in a run with a single. Abbey Yahner also reached on an error where two runs scored.
Greene scored its final three runs in the top of the seventh. Abbey Yahner scored on Kenzie Button’s RBI single while Olivia Kennedy finished 2-for-4 with an RBI triple. Scott drove in Kennedy for Greene's final sixth run.

Kennedy and the Greene Trojans head to Moriches Athletic Complex on Long Island, where they will be facing S.S. Seward at 9 a.m. Saturday for the semi-finals. Good luck to the Greene Trojans.
