CHENANGO COUNTY – Concluding the 2022 spring season, the Midstate Athletic Conference (MAC) have named its first and second team baseball all-stars. Players from Afton, B-G, Greene/Oxford, and Unadilla Valley/GMU were represented.
Greene/Oxford’s Trenton Rapp and Nolan Dodzweit were honored on the first team. In Rapp’s last season for the Trojans, he had a batting average of .455 with 10 doubles, three triples, and 19 RBIS. On the mound, he finished with a 2.00 ERA. Teammate Dodzweit, also a senior, finished with a .302 batting average with 11 RBIs and went 2-2 in pitching. Grayson Flanagan and Anthony Sergi made the second team for the Trojans.
Afton’s Brady Buttice and George Palmetiter also made the first team. Palmetiter led the team with an impressive .467 batting average with 16 RBIs.
“George has gotten better each year and ended his varsity career with his best statistical season yet,” Afton head coach Trevor Beames said. “He hit the ball very well and came through with hits in so many situations with runners in scoring position. He could always be counted on to come up with a big hit in a big spot.”
Buttice finished second on the team with a .462 batting average with 10 RBIs.
“No one had a bigger impact on and off the field and in the batter’s box than Brady,” Beames said. “Everyone was on high alert when he stepped into the box because he was going to make something happen with the bat. He was an outstanding center fielder and our team had full confidence when a ball was hit anywhere near him.”
Ryan Wright and Matthew Carman made the second team for the Crimson Knights.
For Bainbridge-Guilford, senior Jack Winn and eighth grader Connor Davy were selected. Winn finished the season with a .500 batting average with 16 RBIs while Davy finished with a .455 batting average and scored 29 runs. Winn was also new to B-G this season. Teammates Owen Drown and Nolan Hawkins made the MAC second team for B-G.
“Both Connor and Jack were the players we wanted at bat if we needed a hit,” B-G Head Coach Phil Bianchi said.“Each player was a joy to coach and watch improve throughout the season.”
Unadilla Valley/GMU’s Dalton Proskine made the MAC first team with a .486 batting average and a .730 slugging percentage.
“Dalton was a hard worker and athletic kid,” UV/GMU head coach Tim Knapp said. “ I Wish I had a whole team of him, because he was also a great role model to our younger players.”
Congratulations to all the players on a great 2022 season.
