NORWICH – Summer is always an exciting time at the library and this one will be especially great here in Norwich.

Movies Under the Stars kicks off at 8:30 PM on Wednesday, July 6, and continues every Wednesday night in July and August. Movies will be in the library park (the library meeting room if it is raining) and free popcorn will be provided. Bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets. This summer’s lineup is:

GML’s Summer Reading Program is a chance for kids to let loose and read for fun. Register for summer reading bingo at the library to earn prizes and attend fun programs. Kids can always take out books or audiobooks from the library’s collections, but there are also lots of books accessible online. The LIBBY app is downloadable to almost any device and provides access to tens of thousands of books. The DCMO BOCES School Library System also provides access to books and audiobooks through the SORA app. For help with LIBBY, contact Guernsey Memorial Library. Kids or family members needing help with SORA can contact their school librarian or the School Library System at DCMO BOCES in Norwich.

Summer Storytimes are every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 from July 5 through August 19. This summer’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities. Ms. Kim reads stories, sings with the children, and helps the kids with a craft.

Robotics Classes for children and teens are a new event for Guernsey Library. In-person sessions for children on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. from July 11 through August 8. Teens will meet on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. on July 7th, July 21st, August 4th, and August 18th. Register in the library or at GuernseyMemorialLibrary.org.

Game Your Heart Out with board games and video games you can take home with you just like our books and videos. If you prefer, you can have fun on our computers, Xbox, PS4, Switch, or Oculus with your friends in the air-conditioned comfort of the library.
