OXFORD — 6 On The Square will celebrate summer with three free Sunday concerts in Oxford’s Lafayette Park, right outside 6OTS’s doors.
All shows will start at 2 p.m. We will follow all public health guidelines for COVID-19 to keep the concerts safe. Bring your own chair or blanket.
First up on July 10 will be regional favorites The Slambovian Circus of Dreams. The Hudson Valley band has been sharing its inspirational and intriguing music for more than 20 years, and their style has been called everything from “hillbilly Pink Floyd” to “folk-pop” to “surreal Americana.” Influences also include the Incredible String Band, Neil Young, The Band, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Syd Barrett.
The band runs its own label and has five critically acclaimed studio albums: 1998’s “A Good Thief Tips His Hat,” 2004’s double-disc “Flapjacks From The Sky,” 2008’s “The Great Unravel,” 2010’s “The Grand Slambovians,” and 2022’s “A Very Unusual Head.”
In 2019, filmmaker Victor Moore released a new feature-length documentary about the band called “Kickin’ Up a Soundstorm,” which examines the Slambovians’ cult music status through interviews and live performances.

On July 17, Pittsburgh-based band Buffalo Rose will share their energetic Americana sound.
The six-piece group takes the singer-songwriter tradition to a new level by crafting original songs which are emotive, meticulously arranged, and inspired by a world of idiosyncratic influences.
The band released their debut album, “The Soil and the Seed,” followed by EPs “Big Stampede” in 2019, and “Borrowed and Blue” in 202, as well as 2022’s “Rabbit,” a collaboration with Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Tom Paxton. A new full-length LP is scheduled for release later this year.
Buffalo Rose has opened for the Wood Brothers, Mipso, Pokey LaFarge, Tyler Childers, and the Infamous Stringdusters, and they shared a festival stage with the legendary Sam Bush.

On July 24, Rochester-based John Dady and Friends perform their mix of Celtic and American folk music.
The Dady Brothers — favorites at 6 On The Square — entertained audiences around the world for decades as harmony singers, multi-instrumentalists, and songwriters. John and Joe Dady recorded 12 albums and shared stages with, among others, Rick Danko (The Band), Pete Seeger, Ani DiFranco, Jay Unger and Molly Mason, The Clancy Brothers, Danny O’Flaherty, Kate Wolf, Arlo Guthrie, Bill Staines, Finbar Furey, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Cherish the Ladies, and Robin and Linda Williams.
In 2019, Joe Dady lost his battle with leukemia. John continues to carry on the music, performing solo or with close friends.
