NEW BERLIN – As the month of August came to a close, Kelly’s Flowers and Baillie Lumber are the top two teams of the South New Berlin Horseshoe Club. For the second straight week, Baillie Lumber continues to prove themselves as worthy with teams looking to close out the season in mid September.
Tim Lidell and Mike Grant are 5.5 wins behind Ed Kohler and Lee Coon for the top spot but hold control in the second spot ahead of Harrington Tree Service by 3.5.
Webster Paving and The Trophy Guy are currently tied for fourth place with a record of 44-28. But, Ed Webster and Bob Wells have 6058 total points over Cindy and Joe Miller’s 5246.
Things could very well change in the last few weeks, so it is hard to tell who will finish in the top ten or even in the top two spots.
For the men, Mike Grant and Ron Anderson held the top spots for the high singles and high series. Grant led the high singles with 90 points over Dale Lund’s 83 and Lee Coon’s 79. Anderson scored 227 points for the high series with Coon (217) and Lund (212) swapping placement.
Rustic Ridge, Lund and Anderson, had a tough time excelling in the team categories with only having luck in the team high series. Lund and Anderson did however climb up to number six from ninth place in the standings. They look to rattle up the top five in the final weeks of play.
Baillie Lumber had success in the team high singles and team handicap high singles. Taylor’s Country House, Brad Shaver and Jess Sherwood, earned the team handicap high series victory with 626 points while climbing from 10th to tied for seventh place in the standings.
Sherwood was also dominant for the women to close out the week of August 31. She scored 80 points in the high singles and 219 in the high series over Cindy Miller and Sheryl Rowe.
The South New Berlin Horseshoe Club will hold its end of season banquet on September 18. Until then, the club will finish the rest of the season on its usual Wednesday night.
