OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks football team suffered a 42-0 loss to Newfield on Friday night, but played with good dignity and sportsmanship. After losing two players to injury to end the first half, Oxford didn’t give up, even if they couldn’t stop Newfield from running down the field.
The Blackhawks offense made solid red zone drives and came extremely close to scoring until Newfield brought back out their first defense. Something Coach Mitch Cluff was not happy with at all. Despite the frustration, the Blackhawks did see a good rushing game from David Tucker and Dominick Howe made a few catches and tackles on defense.
Oxford will get their first look at league opponent Unadilla Valley on Friday night.
