ONEONTA – On Friday afternoon, the Norwich Purple Tornado golf team defeated the Oneonta Yellow Jackets 229-243. This win was Norwich’s fourth of the season and the third win in divisional play.
Jacob Morris, Braden Reid, and Julien Smith all shot a 45 for Norwich while Jacob Dowdall chipped in a 46 on the day. Aiden Stafford finished with a 48. Matthew Brunick made an appearance, but his score of 56 was not needed.
“ A score of 229 at an away course is pretty solid,” coach Dave Branham said. “Their consistency in scoring is beginning to show the kids are maturing as players. They are playing more strategic and making fewer mistakes.”
Oneonta’s Aiden Gelbsman shot a all-best 41 but his team struggled to keep up with Norwich.
Norwich travels to Chenango Valley for a league match on Thursday, starting at 4 p.m.
