OXFORD – Now is the time to stock up on all of summer’s bounty at the Oxford Farmers’ Market.
Vendors this Saturday will have an abundance of freshly harvested seasonal fruits and vegetables, for eating fresh but also for canning and freezing and drying.
Those old preservation techniques are a great way to capture the freshness of summer to be enjoyed all winter. And why not capture what is fresh and local? It is both more nutritious and more delicious, and it supports local agriculture. Vendors this week will also have many kinds of locally raised beef, lamb, pork and chicken, local eggs, milk and cheeses; fresh baked breads, pies, cookies and scones; locally-grown and milled grains as well as flours, granolas, crackers, and mixes made with local grains; local maple syrup, honey, and ciders; jams, salsas, and pestos made with the freshest of ingredients; and artisan crafts. All brought to you by the hands of your neighbors. The market is open from 9 a.m. to noon on Lafayette Park.
Singer and performer Joe Lombardi returns to the Bandstand with his classics and vintage favorites this Saturday, 10 a.m. - noon. All events at the Market are free and open to the public.
