CHENANGO COUNTY — The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) is reminding parents and caregivers in Delaware and Chenango counties that free car seat checks by certified child passenger safety technicians are available Wednesday, September 21 in Stamford and on Saturday, September 24 in Norwich.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 21, car seat checks will be held at Kiddie Corner Preschool at 114 Main Street in Stamford.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on September 24, Visions Federal Credit Union, located at 5411 State Highway 12 in Norwich, will be hosting a free car seat safety inspection.

This event is part of a year-long safety initiative in which state and local law enforcement agencies and various community safety partners offer free car seat inspections. Trained technicians use the “Learn-Practice-Explain” model to educate parents and caregivers on how to choose and properly install the appropriate seat for their child’s age and size and their vehicle, so it can be used correctly every time.
