OTSELIC VALLEY – On Monday, the Otselic Valley Vikings defeated Moravia 4-3 in overtime. The Vikings also honored senior Brandon Blanco and recognized him for his dedication to the soccer program.
Moravia and OV both played fearlessly to reach overtime. Moravia scored early on a header but OV responded quickly and tied the game up. Both teams went into halftime tied at 1.
The Vikings found the net twice more but so did Moravia. Moravia tied the game with three minutes left on a penalty kick from keeper Abram W, sending it to overtime.
With 26 seconds to go in the first overtime period, Braeden Davis got ahead of a ball and took it down field, beating multiple defenders and beating the goalie on the right to score. Davis finished with a hat-trick while Blanco scored a goal himself and assisted one of Davis’ goals.
Goalie Caleb Lewis made 10 saves in the win.
OV is on a two-game winning streak and currently stands at 3-7 in the Section III, Class D standings with six games remaining. They host Cincinnatus Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
