NPD Deputy Chief of Police Scott Burlison said the victim was still being treated at UHS Wilson Medical Center.

The vehicle careened along the sidewalk for about 100 feet, taking out a post office box and scraping along the front entrances to several businesses.

Police said the incident was not drug related and the driver may have been experiencing a medical issue at the time.

The driver was identified as Tammy L. Dayton, 57, from Norwich. She was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital for evaluation and ticketed for imprudent speed, driving on a sidewalk and moving from a lane unsafely.

Dayton was allegedly heading north along North Broad Street at the time and crossed the yellow line and opposite lane before going onto the sidewalk.
