OXFORD – Coming into Tuesday’s matchup, both the Oxford Blackhawks and the Unadilla Valley Storm volleyball teams were undefeated through six games. While it was a fierce battle, the Storm swept all three games. Two of the three games were close as UV won by three in the second and by five in the final game.

Leading the way for the Storm was Shannon Kelly with 10 digs and six aces and Hudson Lyons with nine assists. Aside from them, Kate Conway earned eight aces, eight assists, and three kills.

Erica Mumbulo finished with seven kills while Bella Jones had four kills and three aces. Erica Mumbulo picked up seven kills while Maddie Sayles had four kills and five digs in the win.

Oxford celebrated Senior Night in the loss, honoring Madalyn Barrows, Anaiya Davis, Tamera Hurlburt, Hailey Richardson, Jadyn Ruff, and Mirrah Stewart.

Barrows led the Blackhawks with 21 digs, 10 kills, and five aces while Ava Benjamin continues to pick up assists with 12. Hurlburt had five digs and a kill as fellow senior Ruff finished with two aces and two blocks.

Anaiya Davis, along with Hailey Richardson, contributed to the team’s efforts. Davis collected three digs while Richardson had two dig and one kill. Quinnlin LaMonica earned three blocks in the loss.

UV picked up a win on Wednesday night against Delhi to remain undefeated while Oxford will host Afton/Harpursville on Thursday starting at 6 p.m.
