GREENE – On Friday, the Greene Trojans defeated Unatego 38-6 to become division champions, leading them to a playoff game in November.
Hunter Page continues to strive for the Trojans as he scored three rushing touchdowns to celebrate senior night.
Page, along with fellow seniors Grayson Flanagan, Travis Lester, Alex Decker, Logan Cloyd, Chanze Christopher, and Corey Swift, were all recognized for their dedication to the football program. Page also led with 12 tackles and two sacks while Swift and William Dunlap had 10 tackles.
Flanagan threw for 92 yards, including two touchdowns to receiver Derek Renfer, who finished with 89 yards. Joel Vielandi also scored a rushing touchdown for the Trojans.
Head Coach Dave Gorton was impressed with his team’s performance.
“We executed very well all night,” he said. “We never punted and stayed balanced on offense. Getting out to a 38-6 lead after three quarters was due to our balance on offense and tough defense.”
With two regular season games remaining and a playoff game in November, Gorton knows there is still plenty of work to be done.
“I am proud of how much we have improved since week one but we have a lot of work to do to compete with the teams going into the playoffs,” he said. “It will be a fun challenge for us. “
Greene will settle in to a bye week before heading on the road against Groton next Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m.
