WINDSOR – On Tuesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls swim team fell short 86-75 to Windsor.

“It was a tough meet to lose. We were faster but we had some girls out so we just didn’t have the numbers,” Coach Saundra Gantt said. “But all in all, the girls who swam had some great races.”

Norwich finished strong in both the 200 yard medley relay and in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Julia Llewellyn, Meghan Funk, Nina Kman, and Adrianna Palmer swam a best 2:19.89 over Windsor’s 2:30.83 for the medley relay. Kman led Aurora Shtrauch, Funk, and Regan Finnegan in the freestyle relay with a time of 2:02.94.

Individually, Finnegan picked up victories in the 200 yard freestyle event and in the 100 yard freestyle while Kman strived in the 50 yard freestyle and finished second in the 100 yard butterfly.

Llewellyn earned first place finishes in the 200 yard individual medley event and in the 500 yard freestyle while Shtrauch finished first in the 100 yard backstroke. Funk finished on top for the 100 yard breaststroke.

Norwich will hold their final regular meet of the season this evening against Oneonta. They will also honor seniors Regan Finnegan and Adrianna Palmer. The meet is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
