NORWICH – On Friday, the Norwich Purple Tornado made their fans proud on homecoming as they defeated Chenango Valley 48-6.

The Tornado scored on all but two possessions. On one, they were forced to punt and the other on an interception before halftime. The Norwich offense was led by Holden Ryan who scored four touchdowns, including an 82 yard run when Norwich was deep in their own territory.

Richard Fuller and Braden Hagenbuch made their way into the end zone to contribute to the win. Fuller scored on a handoff from Steven Dowdall for 58 yards while Hagenbuch caught a 25 yard pass right after receiving a deep pass to get into the red zone.

With a comfortable lead, Norwich rested Dowdall late in the game and used Mitchell Collins in the quarterback position. Collins drove the Tornado down the field with a few big rushes, but settled for a field goal attempt that was missed by Spencer Root. Root did, however, make six extra points in the win.

The Norwich defense held the Warriors to only one touchdown on a quarterback keeper from Tyler-John Adams in the second quarter. The defense also made major stops for losses and put pressure on the quarterback multiple times to force CV to turnover on downs.

Norwich is currently on a roll with a four-game win streak and will be on the road against Owego-Apalachin on Friday at 7 p.m. before coming home for Senior Night.
