OWEGO – On Saturday, the Greene Trojans field hockey team became Section IV Class “A” champions by defeating Maine-Endwell for the third time this season.
The Trojans defeated the Spartans twice in the regular season with all shutouts, but were proud to take the game that mattered most with a 4-0 victory.
The Trojans had four different goal scorers on the day as Payton Yahner, Emma Rice, Bella Tierno, and McKenzie Scott all found their way to the net. Yahner also earned three assists.
Goalies Natalie Scofield and Tatianna Wells split time, where they didn’t give up a single shot on goal. Greene earned nine penalty corners and made 13 shots on goal in the win.
The Trojans head to Regionals, which will be held at Sidney High School, to face Cicero-North Syracuse. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m. Admission will be charged.
