OXFORD – Coming off winning the MAC regular season title, the Oxford Blackhawks volleyball team hosted Candor on Tuesday for sectionals. The Blackhawks swept Candor in all three games, where two games were close (25-22 and 25-21).

Leading the way was Ava Benjamin who continues to be the Blackhawks’ assist leader as she collected 15 in the win. She also had four aces and two kills.

Behind her, teammate Madalyn Barrows played fierce with 13 digs, six kills, five aces, and one block. Jadyn Ruff picked up six aces and five digs while Tamera Hurlburt earned two kills and three digs.

Hailey Richardson had three kills as Quinnlinn LaMonica contributed with two kills and a block to round out the scoring.

Oxford, at 12-1 and as the second seed in sectionals, will join UV, Tioga, and Deposit-Hancock in pool play in the semi-finals. Games are scheduled for Thursday, November 3.
