The Oxford Memorial Library Welcomes Fall And Winter Visitors
Published: November 8th, 2022

OXFORD – The Oxford Memorial Library has been enjoying a great fall season.

The kids are back in school settling into their studies and activities. Students are stopping in at the library after school.

In the closet in our young adult room we have a large variety of games. Students are encouraged to get together and play these games. We also invite families to stop in and enjoy some time playing a game.

The Oxford Memorial Library board of trustees will meet in the library’s community room Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m. The library will be closed Friday, November 11 in observance of Veterans’ Day. We will also be closed Wednesday, November 23 and Thursday, November 24 for Thanksgiving.

Story Continues Below Adverts

The Oxford library along with the Moore Memorial Library in Greene and the Guernsey Memorial Library in Norwich teamed up with the Go-Won-Go chapter of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) to collect personal hygiene items for our veterans at the Veterans’ home here in Oxford. We would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support of this project. We have several boxes of items to deliver to the Veteran’s Home.

Check out our variety of programs. Our preschool story time is Thursday mornings at 10 am. We would encourage those with toddlers and preschoolers to bring the little ones on down for stories and activities. The Friday After School group with Middle School students will only be meeting two Fridays this month as we are closed on the 11 and the 25 is over Thanksgiving Holiday. Game Night is held on the 3rd Thursday of the month (Nov. 17) and our movie this month, “Minions: Rise of Gru” will be on Friday, November 18 at 5:30pm.

We are looking at the possibility of getting an adult book discussion group started up again this year. If you are interested in attending please contact us either by phone (607-843-6146) or via email to ox.nancy@4cls.org or ox.jessica@4cls.org.

We would like to remind you that a library is not just books. We have lots of books, including Large Print to be sure but we also have a collection of Books on CD, DVDs, and magazines.

If we don’t have what you are looking for it is pretty good odds that we can Interlibrary Loan it for you from one of the other 42 libraries in the Four County Library System, so you see we are much more than just what is within the walls of this beautiful building. We also have a community room for local organizations and non-profit groups to use. Just fill out the application and we can reserve the room for your group.

If you are interested in Covered Bridges you might enjoy our Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Resource Center housed upstairs in the library. For an appointment to visit the Center call the library or contact the curator, Trish Kane at bobtrish68@twc.com. The Center includes an amazing collection of photos, postcards, newsletters, bridge models, books and much more.
