SIDNEY – The Sherburne-Earlville boys basketball team kicked off its 2022 season on the road against Sidney. In the non-league matchup, Sidney defeated S-E 67-55.
While being down a majority of the game, including a 33-20 deficit at halftime, the Marauders fought hard in the second half. The team got closer with 20 points in the fourth quarter but the 12 points that Sidney scored was enough to come away with the victory.
Darren Miles lead S-E with 20 points, including a team-high five three-pointers, four of which came in the fourth quarter. Jack Rodman finished with 14 points with eight points scored in the third quarter as S-E was limited in the first half. Rylan Sigman rounded out the top scorers list for S-E with 10 points.
Sidney was led by Jalen R. who scored 24 points, including eight of 11 free throws. Behind him was Conner V. with 20 points.
S-E (0-1) will be hosting their annual tip-off tournament on December 2 and 3. For their first game, they will play Unadilla Valley on Friday at 7:30 p.m in the upper gym.
Admission will be charged. $1 for students and $3 for adults. These prices will be reflected at both the JV and Varsity games.
