NORWICH – DCMO BOCES has announced the culmination of the District Superintendent’s search with the selection of candidate Michael Rullo, as the organization’s leader.

The NYS Commissioner of Education, Betty A. Rosa gave her approval on October 26, 2022 allowing the DCMO board members the opportunity to begin contract negotiations. The ten-month search included a series of review sessions and interviews conducted by multiple teams of school superintendents, BOCES administrators, teachers and staff members, and community members.

Superintendent Perry T. Dewey, III who retired in June of 2022. Mr. Rullo will start his new role at the DCMO BOCES in February of 2023. Plans are underway to introduce Mr. Rullo to

component school staff, community and business leadership.

Rullo, a father of four children, began his academic career earning a degree in Math from

SUNY Geneseo with the goal of becoming a doctor, a career destination he changed to become an educator. His NYS Administrator Certification is combined with a robust educational leadership experience. His career journey at Harpursville Central School district, began in 2008 as Senior High School Principal, moving to the Junior Senior High School Principal and advancing to the Assistant Superintendent in 2012. In 2015 Rullo was appointed as School Superintendent allowing him the opportunity to impact students' opportunities.

Rullo commented on the new opportunity to begin another journey at DCMO BOCES as District Superintendent, “ I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve our school superintendents, our staff and most importantly our students. The DCMO BOCES schools are so similar to the rural school community I have served for the past 15 years. Elevating the opportunities we can offer our students beyond the rural limitations and challenges we face is my personal interest,” said Rullo.
