SHERBURNE– Over the weekend, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders girls basketball team hosted their annual tip-off tournament and welcomed Unadilla Valley, Richfield Springs, and Otselic Valley. The Lady Marauders defeated Otselic Valley in the first game on Friday before defeating Richfield Springs in a close 44-37 game to win the tournament championship.

Unadilla Valley lost to Richfield Springs to move on to the consolation game against OV. They earned third place in a 54-29 victory over the Vikings.

For S-E, Chesnee Miller and Hannah Todd-Rogers were two notable players over the two-game span. Miller won the tournament MVP award for her performance. She had a 12 point game against OV on Friday and scored 10 points in the championship game. Todd-Rogers received all-tournament team honors with 12 points in the first game before finishing the tournament with another 12 points in the championship. She also helped the Marauders to capture the lead in the second quarter, which they never fell behind after that.

On defense, the Marauders were also able to contain Richfield Spring’s Maggie Worobey, who was phenomenal against UV with 22 points. While she still was a threat with 15 points, she didn’t hurt S-E with any three’s when her team could’ve used them.

For Unadilla Valley, Jaiden Schrag received all-tournament honors. She scored 13 points in the loss to Richfield Springs and had 13 points against OV. She also played tremendous on defense against OV with 11 steals to earn the honors.

The OV Lady Vikings were grateful to be included in the S-E tournament, even with some challenges against larger schools. Cassidy Will received all-tournament honors with a 13 point performance in the loss to UV in the consolation game. Teammate Tori Foster also helped OV’s offense with seven three-point shots total in the two-game span.
