OXFORD — The Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market has expanded access to locally-grown and produced food and artisan crafts by adding an online marketplace with curbside pickup on both the first and third Saturdays of the month, November through April.
Started during the 2020 COVID pandemic year, the online marketplace ensured community access to essential local food, but the popularity of it caught on and the service has continued, offering a wide variety of healthy seasonal produce, local meats, dairy, eggs, baked goods, maple syrup and honey, and select artisan crafts.
“We want the community to think of the Oxford Farmers’ Market as their local grocery store, stocked with the freshest local products around,” said Trellan Smith, one of the volunteer organizers of the Market. "A market that supports local farmers and producers. The online marketplace has allowed us to hold the Market twice a month through the winter, which allows more vendors and customers the chance to participate."
And it’s easy to use. Open an account by going to ofm.EatFromFarms.com and start shopping. The ordering window is open from noon on Tuesday through noon on Thursday before the first and third Market Saturdays. Orders placed during that time will be available for curbside pickup that Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon at the United Church of Oxford, located at 16 Fort Hill Park (pickup on Merchant Street).
The service is absolutely free, and customers pay in cash when they pick up. First-time customers this season will receive a $5 coupon redeemable toward their next indoor or online Market purchase.
