OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks boys basketball team hosted Delhi for its fourth straight home game of the season. Delhi was too strong on both ends of the court, taking a 87-29 win.
Before Oxford could even get a score on the board, Delhi got into an early 5-0 run, which led to a 28-point first quarter. While the Blackhawks tried to get something going consistently on offense, efforts were stopped due to the heavily pressure by the Bulldogs’ defense.
Donovan Rickard led Oxford with 14 points while Caden Rifanburg had seven and was able to throw up one three on the night.
Delhi’s Luke Schnabel could not be contained as he scored 31 points on the night, including 17 points in the first quarter alone. Delhi pulled their starters late in the third quarter, but their second-team was just as good. Chuck Haight, off the bench, finished behind Schnabel with 17 points.
Oxford (2-2) appreciated the challenge and was glad the game didn’t count against them in league play. Also, Delhi has defeated other league opponents, which does help the Blackhawks if and when it comes down to seeding.
