WINDSOR - On Saturday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team traveled to Windsor, where they earned their first win of the 2022 season 69-55.
With 25 points in the second quarter, Norwich pulled up a steady 42-21 lead at halftime. That lead was good enough to set up a victory drive in the second half.
Norwich was led by Jerell Stokes with 21 points and Steven Dowdall with 20. Dowdall knocked down four threes while Stokes and Wyatt Thornton were consistent with three a piece. All three players, along with Mitchell Collins, led the Purple Tornado to the stellar second quarter.
Windsor’s Alex Balachick was a bit of a threat to the Norwich defense with 22 points, which primarily came in the second half in an attempt at a comeback, but Norwich stood their ground and answered back offensively.
Norwich (1-6) will host rivals Oneonta on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
