Local Indoor Track Teams Compete At Finger Lakes Invitational

CORTLAND – Over the weekend, several Chenango County indoor track teams competed at the Finger Lakes Invitational held at SUNY Cortland. Norwich was included in the morning session while Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Oxford, and Unadilla Valley all ran in the afternoon.

For Norwich, Lucas Craddock broke the indoor track triple jump record. A record that was previously held by his brother Elijah Craddock. Lucas jumped a best of 43-11.25. He also finished second in the high jump event with a 6-2 mark.

Gage Titsworth earned a first place finish in the long jump with a jump of 19-4, which is a season-best. Caden Sutton achieved a first place victory in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:51.84, which is currently his season-best. Drew Brooks finished third in the same event.

The Norwich girls were led by Brinley Beckwith who finished eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 11.60 seconds. Teammate Lara Tefft placed seventh in the shot put event with a throw of 25’6’’ and Meghan Funk finished in 10th (24’9’’).

Annie Boland and Layla Root earned 11th place in their respective events. Boland ran in the 1000 meter event with a 11th place finish while Root came in 11th in the 300 meter dash.

In the afternoon session, the Unadilla Valley Storm strived with some athletes achieving new school records.

Jaiden Schrag ran the 55 meter hurdles in 9.34 seconds while Gracie Gorrell ran the 300 meter dash in 44.23 seconds. Both ladies set new school records while Kalie Naughton triple jumped 30’11 3/4’’ for a new record as well.

Schrag also participated in the long jump with a jump of 15’4’’, which was good for third with Gorrell in fourth (15-1.25). Naughton came in seventh in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 11.31 seconds.

UV’s Trason Murray equaled his school record in the shot put event with a throw of 34’5’’.

For B-G/A/H, Riley Lindsay made the state top 50 in the girls shot put event with her season-best throw of 31’ 6 3/4’’. Teammate Maddie Ingham picked up two nice positions. For the 1000 meter run, she came in first place and finished ninth in 300 meter dash.

B-G/A/H’s Collin Dicks earned first place in the boys long jump (18-7.50) while Connor Borowski came in 11th place (15-10). Collin finished third in the triple jump behind teammate Julian Pruskowski.

Brock Porter and Easton Porter ran in the 1000 meter event, where Brock took fourth and Easton came in sixth. Easton also came in seventh place in the triple jump with a jump of 34-11.50, a new personal-best.

Oxford’s Victor Richette picked up two top 10 finishes on the day. He earned seventh in the 300 meter dash with a time of 39.81 seconds while finishing tied for eighth in the 55 meter dash (7.06).

For the girls, Kayla Figary and Hailey Fleury stood out for the Blackhawks. Figary came in sixth place in the 55 meter dash and placed eighth in the 300 meter dash. Fleury finished fifth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 10.98 and also had a fifth place finish in the long jump (14-11.25).

All teams will be competing over winter break with an event on Wednesday at Colgate University, starting in the late afternoon.
