OXFORD – After falling to Sidney for their first loss of the season on December 28, the Oxford Blackhawks girls basketball team returned home to face Harpursville. They defeated the Lady Hornets 58-36 to improve to 7-1.
Oxford dominated in all three quarters, before taking their starters out for the remainder of the contest. In the third quarter alone, the Blackhawks scored a whopping 30 points to seal the game.
Harpursville was missing four girls and had six on the court, where they tried their best to stay in the game. The fourth quarter gave them room to run on offense against Oxford’s bench.
Oxford’s Madalyn Barrows led all scorers with 18 points, including knocking down four three’s among the 10 that she put up. She also helped with rebounding with seven (four offense, three defense). Oxford had a total of 56 rebounds in the win.
The Blackhawks will be on the road against Delhi on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
