CLINTON – Coming off the Unadilla Valley Holiday Tournament, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders boys basketball team resumed league play against Clinton on Tuesday. S-E fought to make a comeback in the second half but fell 57-47. Clinton won the previous matchup 72-45 and with this win, they have swept the series against S-E.
Clinton started off hot with 30 points in the first half alone, which held up to win the game. S-E, who normally runs the court in the first half themselves, was limited to 18 points over a usual 20 plus seen in previous games.
While only being down by 12 after halftime, the Marauders pushed through, including 17 points in the final eight minutes of play, but could not hold Clinton defensively.
Darren Miles led S-E with 17 points, while Dilen Maceda and Jack Rodman tied with seven points each. Miles knocked down three three-point shots in the loss.
Tega Igho lead all scorers with 20 points in the win for Clinton.
S-E (3-8) heads back on the road on Thursday against Waterville at 7 p.m.
