NORWICH – It was an exciting night at Jack Jones Gymnasium on Wednesday as the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team won 41-37 in overtime against Windsor. Norwich picked up its fourth win of the season during its current homestand that will continue on through next Thursday.
Both Norwich and Windsor came out tough in the first half with Windsor taking a 20-18 lead at halftime. It was Norwich who took the second half very strong as they set up a good lead with 12 points scored in the third quarter. But, Windsor found themselves back in it as the game was tied at 36 all after regulation.
It didn’t take long to decide who was going out on top as the Purple Tornado outscored the Black Knights 5-1 to secure the victory.
Olivia Schiraldi has been the leading scorer in back-to-back games with 16 points in this contest and with 13 in the loss to Chenango Forks. Josey Ryan finished behind her with nine points.
