SHERBURNE – After finishing 14th in the Oneonta Rotary Tournament, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders came away with a dominating 53-18 win over Cooperstown. S-E scored six points by forfeit while Cooperstown earned one and only brought six wrestlers to the match. But, their six wrestlers gave S-E a tough time.

S-E’s Crispen Prosser kicked things off with a 1:50 pin against Sayer Croft in the 126 weight class before teammate Selina Moore fell to TJ O’Connor in 3:21. Alex Campbell won by technical fall over Cooperstown’s Brent Chase 16-1 in the 160 pound weight class.

Freshman Richie Fuller fought hard against Max Sharf and came out fierce to start the match, but Sharf ended up pulling out a pin at 3:03.

The anticipated match that rounded out the night before exhibition matches was between Landon Andrade and Lucas Clements in the 285 weight class. Andrade, who lost his undefeated streak in the Oneonta tournament, shut things down early for Clements with a pin at 1:21. Andrade improves to 15-1 in only his second season with the Marauders.

S-E will be taking on neighbors Norwich on Wednesday, January 18, where you can be sure the stands will be crowded with a bunch of supporters. Both Norwich and S-E bring quite an impressive team of wrestlers to the showdown, where fans can be expected of an exciting match.
