OXFORD - The Oxford Lady Blackhawks have seen challenging games lately, but they managed to pull it off when it counted.
On Friday against Unatego the match went the distance and game came down to the final free-throw, which Oxford made to win 54-53.
Being down throughout the majority of the contest, Oxford fought back in the fourth quarter with 19 points, finally outscoring Unatego 30-29 in the final half. Unatego’s 34 points scored in the first half wasn’t enough to settle in on a good lead in the end.
Oxford was led by senior Madalyn Barrows who scored her best of the season with 27 points, including four three-pointers and collected 10 rebounds. Barrows also made 14 of 18 free-throws earned. She is currently averaging 19.9 points per game. Ella Kelsey finished behind her with 11 points.
Oxford (11-3) will face Greene in a rematch at Oxford’s home court this time. The game is set to take place on Thursday at 7 p.m.
