NORWICH – On Wednesday, January 25, the Board of Education approved the recommendation of two principals to the Norwich City School District leadership team.

Jacob Roe will serve as principal of Norwich High School and Sara Gilbeau will assume the role of Perry Browne principal.

The appointments of Roe and Gilbeau strengthen NCSD's ability to move forward on the path to becoming a model organization, said the school in a statement.

Roe, has been serving as interim NHS principal since November. He has been in education for many years most recently serving as the High School Principal at Tioga CSD. Roe began his teaching career in an elementary classroom, was a H.S. Earth Science teacher and also has experience as a technology integration teacher.

"Jake brings worldly experience to Norwich, having grown up in the Southern Tier and taught abroad in Myanmar. His commitment to students learning at high levels as well as creating a secondary environment where all students are connected and engaged makes his candidacy worthy of investment and welcoming to our organization,” said Norwich Schools Superintendent Scott Ryan.

Gilbeau is also no stranger to the City of Norwich School District, having served for more than a decade as a teacher at Perry Browne, and acting Perry Browne Principal since August. Gilbeau was a leader in the classroom, on her grade level team and spent the last year serving as student success coordinator at Perry Browne.

According to Ryan, "Sara is committed to ensuring that instruction and assessment are aligned and that all students reach their greatest potential. Sara understands the needs of our students and is implementing systems to ensure this happens.”

“We are very excited to welcome both Roe and Gilbeau to join our leadership team. They both strengthen our district and reflect our continued commitment to invest in the areas of people, program and place. Please join us in congratulating Jake and Sara,” added Ryan.
