HARPURSVILLE – The Oxford Lady Blackhawks defeated Harpursville 54-33 on Wednesday evening, marking their third straight win after defeating Unatego and Greene. The Blackhawks also improve to a stellar 13-3 record, only behind the Trojans at 14-1. This was the third straight game where Oxford put up 54 points or better offensively.
In what appeared to be a slow first half with the Blackhawks taking a 24-12 lead at halftime, they picked it up quickly in the third quarter. They posted 20 points and held the Hornets to five points. Even with Harpursville gaining momentum in the fourth quarter, it wasn’t enough to hold off the Blackhawks from securing the victory. The Hornets were excellent in rebounding with 30 defensive rebounds, but couldn’t push through offensively.
Oxford’s Madalyn Barrows, who has been pulling 20 plus points in the past few games, was held to 13 points and tied with Kyla Kelsey-Jones. Kelsey-Jones knocked down three of four three-point shots. Ella Kelsey finished behind them with 11 points.
Oxford heads to Bainbridge-Guilford this evening at 7 p.m. The Blackhawks defeated the Bobcats 52-32 in the first meeting between these two teams on December 19.
