GREENE – In an emotional start to the night, the Greene Lady Trojans took the court and played superior in the 67-26 win over Harpursville.
Greene honored its three seniors who have each brought success to the classroom and to athletics in multiple sports played throughout their high school career.
Emma Rice, who has overcome a hand injury this season to get back into playing and starred on the field hockey team in the fall, looks to bring her talent to Suny Cortland to continue playing at a collegiate level.
Cassie Butler looks to get into the medical field at an undecided collegiate institution. Payton Yahner looks to do the same in more of a physical therapy track while keeping in shape in athletics.
All three have served as a captain this season and will be greatly missed.
Payton Yahner dominated throughout the entire contest with 26 points, including three three-pointers. The most points she’s scored this season. Abby Yahner scored 10 points in a game that Greene had full control of. The Trojans didn’t even look a bit rusty after the loss to Oxford in their previous game on January 26 and a short break.
Greene stands tall with a 15-1 record and will host Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m.
