SHERBURNE – Coming off a tough loss in overtime, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders boys basketball team were eager to get back on track as they hosted Westmoreland on Friday evening. The Marauders held on to a 53-50 win against the Bulldogs, who had won the previous meeting 69-53.
S-E continued to play their best first half, taking a brief 30-22 lead at halftime. The first half was led by Darren Miles who hit three-of-five three-points in the first quarter while Nick Hull knocked in two three’s before halftime. Westmoreland pushed away with a 10-0 run to start the second half, but Miles, with Dilen Maceda this time, answered back with a few three’s to pick the lead back up.
Miles’ 16 points helped S-E secure the must-needed victory. Hull finished behind with 14 points, including the two three’s while Rylan Sigman had 10 points.
S-E will host Waterville this evening at 7 p.m. This is one of two remaining games currently on the Marauders’ schedule as they will later host Sidney on Friday evening. You can track the S-E webpage on the High School Sports Stats website or schedule galaxy for more updates as they come.
