SIDNEY – After falling short to Greene last Friday, the Oxford Blackhawks returned to action on Wednesday against Sidney, who lost to Unatego. In the MAC Consolation game, Oxford defeated Sidney 64-51. This was the third time these two teams had faced each other this season with Oxford having a 2-1 record against them.
Oxford pressured early on and took a demanding 33-21 lead at halftime, setting up for another 60 plus game that they saw plenty of times. Oxford did not let up, even with Sidney pushing back late in the game. Both teams were even with 42 rebounds on the night, but Oxford crushed competition with 12 three-pointers.
Eight three’s came off the hot hands of senior Madalyn Barrows who posted a season-high of 31 points. She also had a double-double with 11 rebounds. Kyla Kelsey-Jones and Ella Kelsey both had seven points. Kelsey-Jones also collected 10 rebounds in the win.
