WALTON – It was a bittersweet end of the season for seniors Kadence York, Bella Jones, Maddie Sayles, and Mackenzie Acre as the Unadilla Valley Storm girls basketball team fell to Walton on Wednesday. In the 56-40 deficit, UV played consistent, but could not hold Walton from doing the same.
UV played up tempo with 20 points in the first half to only be down 27-20 at halftime. Both teams came out strong in the third quarter, but Walton did not give up and even held UV from attempting a comeback in the final eight minutes of play. Walton also was consistent at the free-throw line, making 14-of-28 foul shots while UV went seven-for-15.
Kadence York led the team in her final high school start with 18 points and collected a double-double with 10 rebounds. She also went six-for-nine at the free-throw line. York and Bella Jones, who had eight points, led the Storm to a combined 11 team points in the third quarter alone.
UV finishes the 2022-2023 season at 6-14 and looks to prepare for a stronger season next year.
