NEW BERLIN – The Cultural Center at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will present a Cabaret Night on Sunday.
The performance will take place at 7 p.m., Sunday, February 19, at 40 South Main Street in New Berlin. Admission is Free. Seats are filling quickly and are limited.
New Berlin Mayor Peter Lennon invites residents to join the fun at the Cultural Center, where family friendly songs from the 1930's and 1940's movies will be sung by professionally trained community singers.
“The acoustics in the Parish Hall provide amazing sound and the church building is beautiful,” he said.
The Cultural Center at St. Andrew's was created with the objective of embracing the community by sharing and teaching many aspects of art, craft, dancing and through the use of classes, events, festivals and workshops. Lennon said the Parish Hall was being underutilized so why not offer it out as a center for both young and old.
The mayor said Andreia and Jeff Keller spear headed the idea for the Cultural Center. They moved from New Jersey to New Berlin in recent years during Covid and brought their artistic talent with them.
The Sunday performance will star the Village Voices, a group of local residents who have been working under the Kellers.
Andreia Keller ran a dance studio in New Jersey as professional dancer and artist. She was born in Brazil and at the age of 6 and began training in all forms of dance.
Her accomplishments range from creating award-winning choreography to producing one of the most well-known dance festivals in Brazil. Along her journey, she discovered painting and has been in several galleries in the USA, Brazil and in the Orlando Museum of Art in Florida. She is proud to call New Berlin her home and has now added artisanal bread making to her list of achievements.
Jeff Keller is a singer and actor. He was one of the original cast members of “ Phantom of the Opera” and the first American to play, “The Phantom” on Broadway. Amongst his Broadway accomplishments, he also performed with the Princeton Symphony, Arkansas Symphony and Albany Symphony. His vocal skills are now being shared and taught to the community.
Lennon said, “Additional instructors provide ballet and yoga classes and are certified by the church.” To learn more about the Cultural Center visit their facebook at CulturalCenter@St.Andrew's for further information.
The mayor said he is proud of New Berlin, The Cultural Center and the surrounding area. He enjoys the events in the community and hopes you visit the Cultural Center, join a class or just experience the ambiance of the village.
“Yes, in New Berlin!” said Lennon, “Maybe this is their new motto.”
