NORWICH — The Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America has announced Dave Burrell and Gary Brightman will be honored at the 2023 Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner for Chenango County. Burrell and Brightman will each receive recognition for their roles in the community and exemplifying what it means to live by the Scout Oath and Law.
The community is invited to purchase tickets for the recognition dinner where they will be honored on Thursday, May 11 at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.
Selection was made for the award by a committee of local citizens which includes past recipients and is co-chaired by Mark Golden and Frank and Betsey Baio. This is the 36th Annual Distinguished Citizen of the Year dinner benefiting the local Scouting program. Each year the Scouts recognize a local community leader for their outstanding contribution to the betterment of the community and service to their fellow citizens.
“This year, while we get to celebrate this community's support of our local Boy Scouts Baden-Powel Council, we have a double celebration recognizing the decades-long contribution to our county by Gary Brightman and Dave Burrell. We look forward to a wonderful evening honoring these two friends,” said Mark Golden of Golden Artist Colors, Inc.
