BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford baseball team hosted Norwich in only the Bobcats’ second game of the season. B-G built a comfortable lead in the third inning to defeat the Purple Tornado 11-2, handing them their third straight loss.
Norwich kicked off their offensive efforts early in the first. Trent Marinelli started things off with a lead-off double before advancing to third on Kassen Stubbs’ bunt infield single.
B-G made two errors following the two hits, which resulted in Norwich getting on the board with a 2-0 lead. Marinelli led Norwich with two hits and was on base three times with a walk, but the Purple Tornado failed to score again.
Meanwhile, B-G answered back in the bottom of the first inning with a run off an RBI single from Connor Davy. Davy contributed with three of B-G’s 10 hits on the day.
The Bobcats tied the game in the third and took the lead off back-to-back hits from Tim Kinter and Gavin Gifford. Both would score on a hard hit ball to center field from Jose Bivar. Bivar drove in a total of three runs in the win.
B-G scored six runs before settling in with their remaining runs throughout the final three innings.
Nolan Hawkins earned the win on the mound for the Bobcats. He went 5.2 innings, allowing the two runs on three hits, three walks, and struck out 14 batters in 112 pitches. He was replaced by Ethan Beames. Beames finished the game, allowing one hit while striking out two.
Norwich’s Graham Burton started the game and went two innings before Trey Bates and Marinelli pitched in relief. All three combined with six strikeouts in the loss.

Norwich (0-3) looks to bounce back vs Windsor this evening (Monday) at 5 p.m.
