AFTON – After a strong offensive outing against Harpursville, the Afton Crimson Knights baseball team dropped a 1-0 game to Charlotte Valley on Friday afternoon. This was the second time Afton pitched well, but the offense failed to touch the plate in the last three games played.
Afton did outhit the Wildcats four to three with Ryan Wright, Carter Burns, Tyler Kelly, and Braden Sadlemire providing a hit each in the loss. Sadlemire and Wright each had doubles in their plate appearances. Matt Carman and Ryan Wright (two) were also in scoring position with stolen bases, but efforts fell short.
Ryan Wright pitched a solid ball game, but the one run given up in the third inning was what costed him. He allowed the one run on three hits, walked four batters, and struck out 13.
The Crimson Knights (3-2) will travel to Delhi this afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. start.
