MCDONOUGH — The Brackel Pub and Grub, formerly known as Shenanigans62, is planning on opening mid May and is located at 107 Kinney Road in McDonough, right off State Route 23.
Owners Aubrey and Jerry Harman, daughter and father team, purchased the building and began remodeling shortly after they closing on the property.
Aubrey Harman said, “I've always wanted to buy a bar and jumped at the opportunity when I heard Shenanigans was going up for sale. I used to bartend full time years ago, before working in the banking business for 18 years, but still, bartending is something I really enjoy and after working for other companies for so many years, and making them money, I decided it's time for me to work for myself.”
“My dad has always been a beef farmer and just retired. When I approached him to see if he wanted in on the purchase he said 'Yes, let's do it', and so we did. He's always very supportive of my endeavors,” Harman added.
Harman explained the reasoning behind the name for the new establishment. They had worked up many different names but nothing seemed appropriate and after talking with the previous owners, who originally named it The Brackel Pub and Grille but wished they had named it The Brackel Pub and Grub, thats when Aubrey and her dad decided on the name, The Brackel Pub and Grub.
“It made sense and seemed to fit,” Harman said. “And especially since Brackel Creek is well known for its history, fishing and bird watching. We're very happy with the new name.”
“We've remodeled the bathrooms and extended the bar. The outdoor Pavilion provides seating and will be ready for use with live outdoor music on the weekends,” she added.
Harman went on to explain the Pub and Grub is family owned and operated with additional staff support hired. She's still looking to hire a head cook, someone that knows and understands the business and can run with it. She also said side by side and snowmobile trails lead right to the front door.
“Occasionally my kids will help out but my focus for my children is to maintain school studies and their employment,” she said.
The menu will consist of basic pub food including but not all inclusive; Chicken, fries, poppers, burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads, Soda, Domestic Beer and IPA's on tap. Specials will be offered and to be decided on in the next few weeks.
Opening Day to be announced. Hours of operation will likely be 11 a.m to 11:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. 11:00 a.m. To 1:30 a.m Friday and Saturday.
