AFTON – After falling to Deposit-Hancock in their last game, the Greene Trojans softball team didn’t waste any time in the big 21-5 win over Afton. The game was knotted at one at the end of the first before Greene scored 12 runs in the second inning to hold a comfortable lead and added on to win in five innings played.
Claire Flanagan led the Trojans as she went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored four runs. McKenzie Scott also had three RBIs with a double and single. Payton Yahner put Greene on the board with a two-out home run to deep left in the first inning.
Cali Knapp earned her second win of the season on the mound and the Greene defense was solid behind her. Knapp allowed five runs on six hits and committed one fielding error in the win.
Greene (6-2) returns home this afternoon to face Harpursville at 4:30 p.m.

BASEBALL:
Sherburne-Earlville falls short to Waterville 3-2. Espn Anderson and Waterville’s Cole Pearsall both pitched complete games in a pitcher’s duel. Anderson struck out 11 batters, but allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sherburne produced two runs on five hits. Anderson and Owen Brown both hit an RBI single for S-E’s scoring.
Otselic Valley-Cincinnatus defeats Mater Dei Academy 14-8. The Vikings scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Hunter Rozewski led the team with four hits and Avram Moses had three RBIs with two hits. Moses also pitched five innings, where he allowed four runs on three hits, walked five batters, and struck out seven. Braeden Davis and Troy Miller pitched in relief.
SOFTBALL:
Otselic Valley falls to Cincinnatus 20-3. Paige Will drives in a run and Tori Foster hits a triple in two plate appearances.
